Laura Salon Branding Session June 2019

Lets talk branding.

As a business owner today, branding is SO important. It is how you are perceived by customers. Your branding tells your story, who you are and what you are about. And one of the best ways to nail your branding is to do a content session!

Simply put, your brand is your promise to your customer. It tells them what they can expect from your products and services, and it differentiates your offering from your competitors'. Your brand is derived from who you are, who you want to be and who people perceive you to be. - John Williams, Entrepreneur.com

While I am guilty of not always following my own advice, I always tell others how important it is to show your face on your website or social media sites. Clients want to know who are you and get a feel for your personality. This is especially important in a service job like Laura’s salon. She specializes in blondes and coloring which means several hours in her chair. You don’t want those several hours to be awkward, you want to go to someone who 1) is an expert and will make you look fabulous (so showing your work is SUPER important) and someone who 2) looks friendly and welcoming. Someone you think you could easily chat with during your appointment.

Now I am not saying that if you are an introvert you won’t get business. Because I am an introvert (or an extroverted introvert as I like to put it). But showing off your fun personality makes a difference!

When I first moved to Elmhurst, I was in need of a hairstylist. I was dying my own hair and it was a mess. I did a search of lots of salons in the area and looked at every website to see which one seemed like the kind of place that could do fantasy hair. I did not want to go to a salon that specialized in only cuts or had never done a hair color like mine before. The salon I chose was based off a gut feeling I got from their website. Laura did not have her own salon at the time and just so happened to be the one working that Saturday I went in for my appointment. It was chance that we met but she was phenomenal and made my messed up hair look amazing! Plus it was so easy to talk to her, it was like we had known each other for years.

Now that she has her own salon, I think it is so important to embrace how awesome she is and how she makes you feel. I hope her new headshots and content help her connect with even more clients <3
