Vendor Spotlight: Paper Blossoms by Michal

I have been mulling over this idea for months. I love connecting awesome vendors with awesome couples. And thought this might be a fun way to connect you guys! I am also hoping to eventually get a spot on my website or a PDF created with a list of “valued vendors”. Not a fan of the term preferred. My goal is to highlight more vendors with an interview so you can learn about a business you may never have thought of and hopefully work with them on your wedding day! First up is Paper Blossoms by Michal!

I was connected to Michal through Kaitlin and Mark’s wedding. Typically after a wedding, I try to share the gallery of photos with other vendors so they can use the images in their portfolio. I sent Michal their gallery and have been “internet friends” ever since :) It is not often that you see paper flowers at a wedding but I thought they were just incredible. After following Michal and her work for several months, I can tell you she is so insanely talented in all her endeavors. I think having a paper bouquet is something so fun you can do to make your wedding your own AND you can easily keep it after the wedding! Shadow box not required.

Tell me about your background.

I've lived in Michigan my entire life and am currently based in Kalamazoo. I've always enjoyed artistic and creative endeavors. Growing up, I wanted to be a writer.

Tell me more about your business.

My business is my passion! I make paper flowers from cardstock and premium specialty papers. I make large wall decor flowers, but I specialize in smaller bouquet flowers and provide florals for many weddings each year. There are smaller, pre-made arrangements available for purchase on my website for gifts, and I always welcome custom orders. I am based in Michigan, but I've shipped orders (small all the way up to weddings) all over the world.

How did you get into the wedding industry? What do you love about it?

I started doing weddings right after mine in 2015. I'd made about 1000 flowers for my wedding for table decor and such, and people took those as favors. I even had my guests asking if they could buy some. My wedding flowers brought me into the wedding industry. I love being able to work with each individual couple to create a custom-built design that's tailored especially to them: I've incorporated everything from a favorite shared book(s), to a first dance song sheet music, to love letters, to vows. The sky's the limit. It means a lot that they trust me enough to be such a big part of their day, but also to make the flowers that will serve as a reminder of that day for years to come. I feel very blessed.

What is your process? When should couples book you for their wedding?

I have couples fill out a short Pre-Consultation Form and set up a free consultation either in person in Kalamazoo, or via video chat if they're from out of town. During the consult, we go over details, and I take all that information and design a custom package.

Any advice for couples planning their wedding?

Relax! Do research on your vendors, but once you've found vendors that you trust, leave the worrying to them. The big day is about enjoying each other, and as a vendor, my job is to make sure your flowers are one less thing you need to worry about.

Any other fun projects you are working on?

I have some expansion plans for next year that I'm excited to implement, and hope to reveal a project I've been working on for a year and a half in (hopefully) Spring, 2020.-3 fun facts about yourself :)*Huge Harry Potter nerd! (Gryffindor/Thunderbird)*I love reading, drawing, getting tattoos, and playing games.*Life goal is to pet every dog. -Where can couples contact you?
