Jessica and Cory St Marys DeKalb Orchard Valley Golf Course Aurora Illinois Wedding

When Lex and I were driving out to Jessica and Cory’s ceremony at St. Mary’s in DeKalb it rained the whole time. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good rainy day shoot but I know on wedding days that can feel stressful. It was just a sign of all the good luck these two were going to have :)

The rain stopped just as we were getting to the Orchard Valley Golf Course for photos. But the grey skies stayed which made it the most perfect evening for portraits! Jessica and Cory’s wedding kicked off fall early.

I actually went to school with Jessica! It was a long time ago and I think she is a year or 2 younger than me so I didn’t know her very well. But I knew of her! There is something really cool about being able to document the wedding of someone you went to school with when you are younger. To be a part of such an important moment in their lives and document the start of their new adventure is some pretty special to me.

While I may not have known her or their bridal party, I was recognized as “Marissa’s sister” which I always find funny when someone comes up to me (being the oldest) and asks if I am either Zach or Marissa’s sister. Their entire bridal party was just so much fun though! They were a great group who were up for all of my weird and goofy ideas. I am not a fan of just having everyone standing in a line. You are either getting cozy with one anther or you are moving.
