Boll Family Weekend Getaway Saugatuck and Doulas Michigan Adventures April 2026 // Travel Photography

It has been awhile since we had a weekend away just Lex, Wilder and I. We had planned on doing something last year but by the time we had some free weekends to fill it was soooo hot out the thought of trying to go somewhere and have fun felt unbearable. I like good weather as much as the next person but I really have no desire to just sweat the whole time we are out. So we got out sh*t together so to speak and planned a weekend to one of our favorite areas in Michigan: Saugatuck! My grandparents live nearby in Fennville so we have been coming here since I was little. We come up most Novembers to celebrate Christmas with them but with how large my side of the family is, we won’t always get enough time to do things we really want to do. So this weekend was absolutely perfect. We had no schedule and could do whatever we wanted for however long we wanted!

Some highlights included:

Woosah Art + Coffee: We stopped here randomly for the first time last November and it was amazing. The shop is so cute and full of art!! And the coffee was DELISH. Plus they have a great outdoor area to sit that has swings you can sit at instead of chairs. There is also an awesome trail up the street we walked for awhile. Saw 7 deer!! So cool

Saugataco: A newer restuarant that we have tried getting everyone to go to the last few times we visited. It was getting to be mid afternoon and we were hungry so I said why not actually check this out. The food was fantastic! Some different types of ingrients than you might expect but it was soooo fresh and yummy. I would 1000% go again.

The Wind in The Willows: So this wasn’t a place we went but a book that has been on my list for awhile. Randomly found it at the Saugatuck Drug Store so I, of course, had to grab it. Sooo fun. We love a good story about animals, especially when they are like humans!

Fog rolling in from Mt. Baldy: We were making our way back to our car from Saugataco and I saw fog coming in from the dunes. It was filling the whole lake. Naturally we had to stop and take a bunch of photos! It was a pretty magical moment.
