Patrick + Melyssa Kilbuck Creek Wedding

Patrick and Melyssa were one of those couples where as you got to know them and their friends more, it was like fate brought us together. They found me through the last Kilbuck Creek wedding we had shot but were also great friends with a photography classmate of mine from college. He was a groomsmen :) Most of the bridal party either lived or lives in our Suburb area. Others went to NIU. The list goes on!

Whether it was fate, SEO, luck, or coincidence that brought us together I am glad they found us. It was our first wedding as a husband and wife team and what a way to get back into the season! Patrick, Melyssa, their friends and family were so incredibly wonderful and welcoming. From the moment we walked in to the house they were offering us drinks, asking if we needed anything, and up for any ideas we had. If we could shoot their wedding every weekend, I would ;)

I want to highlight a few awesome aspects of their day. The first being their adorable letter exchange. Besides the fact that both Patrick and Melyssa were pretty emotional when reading their letters, Patrick surprised Melyssa with the Disney Castle Lego set. Amazing right?? He gave her a box with a Mickey and Minnie lego inside and she knew immediately what it was from. If we had had time, I think Melyssa would have started putting together right there.

Another awesome part of their day was the home-brewed beer Patrick and Ben (my photography classmate) made. I tried some and liked it! That is coming from someone who does not enjoy 99.9% of beer. I just love it when couples make their day unique with things they love.

And the last awesome detail is the huge glow sticks. If you know me, you know how much I LOVE shooting the fun dancing at a reception and how my heart belongs to all things smoke bombs, glow sticks, confetti poppers, etc. Put those two together and I was in my happy place dancing out on the dancing floor getting these shots.

Thank you both SO much for having us capture your day. Lex and I had the best time and cannot wait for your post wedding session!! :D
