Jameson One Year Birthday Christmas Session in DeKalb

Jameson turns one TODAY! Happy birthday to this adorable little guy :)

It feels like I literally just met up with Abby and Jeremy to take 6 month photos of Jameson yesterday and now he is celebrating his first birthday. It was so cute to watch him. He definitely loved to move more than he did to sit! He also was a big fan of cereal, chocolate frosting, and looking at stuff on the ground.

When Abby texted me about their session, she initially mentioned a Christmas tree farm. We ended up shooting in their home by their tree and it was so pretty and perfect. When I walked in, their house was decked out. I was impressed at all the beautiful decorations! I could barely get my one wreath and mini tree out. And I mostly did the tree because I am obsessed with string lights.

She had mentioned that friends were surprised we were doing their photos in their home. I couldn’t agree more with Abby when she said that Jameson feels comfortable at home and that definitely helps during a session with kids. You never want them to feel stressed out just to get a photo! And I also love documenting you and home with your loved ones. Who knows if they will live in this house forever and they may have more kids. So it is nice to be able to look back on these moments just the three of them in this home :)

I also loved the nontraditional spin on a “cake smash”. There is a trend that when your child turns 1, you buy them a cake a do a photo shoot of them smashing it. It doesn’t always work out that way but it also cute regardless! They got Jameson a donut and I’d say his favorite part was the frosting ;)
