Liz + Ray The Forge Sycamore and Afton Forest Preserve Engagement Session
I love sessions where I call Lex on the way home and tell him all about how awesome my clients were. This was 100% the case with Liz and Ray. We met up at The Forge in Sycamore to start off their session. Ray is a nurse currently working nights and needed some food before we started with photos. Which worked out perfectly so we could just hangout and chat to calm those pre shoot nerves!
When Liz emailed me about their engagement session she said they wanted to do part of their session at The Forge in Sycamore because it was a huge part of their relationship. They have spent many dates nights there and even got engaged at The Forge. Talk about awesome, right? Its one of my favorite things to do incorporating special places into sessions for my couples. We had the whole back room to ourselves and got a little cozy :)
Like most of my couples, Ray and Liz started off their session by saying how they had never had professional photos done before and were going to be awkward in front of the camera. She also warned me that there was a little bit of a height difference between them. She is 5’2” and Ray is 6’8”. She mentioned normal poses didn’t work for them. But they were so wrong! I mean, look how cute these two are?? We had a blast hanging out and running around DeKalb and Sycamore. I know they are going to knock it out of the park next March during their wedding!
They are getting married at Blumen Gardens in Sycamore. Now if you have never been there you have to go! It is insanely beautiful. Not only are they are event space but they also sell plants and garden decor. Growing up, we took my mom there every Mother’s Day so she could pick out a few things. Everything they do there is beautiful and full of so much creativity. I am not a gardener so it always blows my mind what Blumen Gardens creates. I will be shooting a wedding there in June and theirs again in 2020 and I cannot wait! We chatted a lot during their session about their wedding plans and I don’t want to give too much away but I will say you may see The Forge as a backdrop again for a few photos and cats may be involved. SO EXCITED.
