Nicole and Ben Ex Wedding Day Lilacia Park Blackwell Forest Preserve Villa Park Celebration

Nicole and Ben decided a couple weeks before their 9.26.20 intimate wedding at Blackwell Forest Preserve in Warrenville to postpone everything to 2021. The plans were changing over and over again to make sure everyone was safe and happy and it felt like their day was so twisted up into something they didn’t want it to be. I was heartbroken for them. Nicole and Ben are some of our best friends so when they told us one afternoon sitting in our backyard about their decision, it was hard not to get teary eyed. They have been together for over 7 years and this was going to be THEIR YEAR.

I knew it was the right decision for them since they would never have felt totally at peace and happy having their small wedding day with all the stress going on around them. So while Lex and I were sad for them we also agreed to help make their would-be-wedding day as much fun as possible. And I am SO glad they still wanted to do something because it was the best day!

We went and got lattes at our favorite local coffee shop and then came back to our house so they could get ready. We treated it like it was their wedding day so they put on their outfits and jewelry like they would have. We went to Lilacia Park for a first look and then to Blackwell Forest Preserve for couples photos. We ended the night with amazing food, drinks, and hanging out under out string lights in our backyard. It was a pretty special day.

Nicole and Ben, I know this has been a hard year with lots of hard decisions but trust me when I say when you finally get married, no matter how it happens, the wait will be worth it. And that I hope when you start planning your day again, you only do what makes YOU TWO happy. Counting down the days until you say I do <3 Lex and I love you both so much!
