Ryan and Hannah OKC Halloween Backyard Wedding

The week Ryan and Hannah got married in OKC on Halloween started off with an ice storm that took out the power at 300,000 homes and businesses. After having to change their wedding plans several times due to covid, they couldn’t have anticipated such a huge hurdle coming their way just days before they were supposed to get married.

The morning Lex and I were heading out to OKC, we got a text from Ryan that the power was out at the AirBnb they were supposed to be staying at and getting married. I don’t think the power ever came back on while we were there. After spending most of Thursday driving around to check out other AirBnbs, calling hotels, reaching out to everyone they knew to see if there was a venue they could use for their small wedding they finally found one around 7pm on Thursday night. A friend and old coworker of Hannah’s mom so graciously offered up her home for them to use.

Katie and her husband basically let us all call their home ours for the next 48 hours. They rearranged their backyard to maximize space and remulched their yard so it would look perfect for the ceremony. We took over their kitchen during dinner and had a reception with live music in their backyard until 10pm where they then let the bridal party crash their music recording studio to continue hanging out. I think I can speak for everyone that this family rocks. And I know their kindness during what was an incredible stressful week for Ryan and Hannah won’t be forgotten.

I also have to give a huge shout out to every friend and family member involved that week. It was definitely an all hands on deck situation. You are all rock stars too! All the hard work you put into making sure Ryan and Hannah had the best day ever is something incredible that I feel lucky to have been a part of.

This wedding was extra special because Lex and Ryan have been friends since basically the first days of college. They were in a fraternity together and so many of Lex’s college stories involve Ryan. We actually met Hannah for the first time together when we were photographing Ryan’s brother Jake’s wedding. We had just finished shooting and spent the next hour sitting on the ground outside with Hannah chatting. On the drive home we talked about how much we loved Hannah and knew these two we meant to be.

Getting to not only attend our friends’ intimate wedding but to photograph/video it it means the world to me. I really can’t put into words how much I love being able to document such special moments in the lives of the people we love.

Thanks for letting us be a part of your wedding in so many ways! Lex and I are so freaking happy for you both and wish you nothing but a lifetime of happiness <3
